Is it September already? WOW! Around these parts we are still having the “middle of summer heat and humidity.” All week it is to hit the 90s. I don’t mind. Sure beats that flying white stuff.
Psalm 37 has always been a favorite chapter of mine. It contains by “life verse”: “Commit everything you do to the Lord. Trust Him, and he will help you.” (v. 5 NLT)
But just the structure of verses 1-7 stands out to me:
- “Don’t worry about the wicked.” (v. 1)
- “Trust in the Lord and do good.” (v.3)
- “Take delight in the Lord.” (v.4)
- “Commit everything you do.” (v.5a)
- “Trust Him, and he will help you.” (v.5b)
- “Be still in the presence of the Lord.” (v.7a)
- “Don’t worry about evil people.” (v.7b)
Each beginning is filled with wisdom and like so man truths and passages, the wisdom is there, but it takes a lifetime to master/practice.
“Lord, help me to put into practice the simple truths found at the beginning and contained within each verse.”
Is there any one of those verses that stands out to you?

The wisdom in this Psalm is invaluable, Bill. Simple and so true. I’m reminded to let go and let God.
Blessings!
That’s why I like this Psalm so much Martha. I’m a simple man. 🙂
“Trust in the Lord and do good.” Instead of fretting while we wait on the Lord, He has given us an assignment–do good. I find that makes the wait more bearable.
AMEN to that Pam! Waiting can be so insufferable at times, except when we trust. Great point. Thanks
Mine is #6, learning to be still and wait on God’s answer and not rush into my own conclusions. I am always amazed at how God reveals his answers through the Bible and through so many other outlets that I do not expect confirmation from and yet there it is, I receive the clarity from God, knowing it was not my thoughts but His answer.
Learning to be still and wait is not a strong suit of mine Gail. I have become more patient as I’ve gotten older but I can look back at choices and decisions made way too soon because of my impatience. I’m glad for you.
#6. Because we/I always have a panic button always near me. But if I hold fast and be still I know the Lord always has His hand on me!
Knowing He is there allows us to put our hands down and not have them raised to hit that button.
