September 7

Where do I start? This devotion speaks to a depth of me not even I can reach. Maybe it’s because I have questions? Maybe it’s because I had someone in my office just this past week whom I had no answers for? Who is going through a dark time and I had no answers. Well…I did but 1) I’m not sure she wanted to hear it, and 2) this is articulated much better than I could. Several statements stuck out to me:

“I will suffer because my suffering is an essential part of God’s grand plan for me.”

“These difficult moments of life are not the failure of God’s plan or in the way of God’s plan; these moments are His plan.”

“He is not working to give me that temporary situational emotional high; He is working to produce something much better-eternal joy.”

“Walking with Jesus is not the grand vacation, a life free of responsibility and trial. Walking with Jesus is not like that because my right here, right now life with him is not a destination.”

“Father, life is hard. I get that. Life will never be easy, nor is it meant to be. I get that too. As I know that in my head, transfer it to my heart so that belief is rock solid in me. Work your plan in me.”
