“No one is ever too far gone.”
I have preached that for years. This past weekend that truth came home to roost for me. I received a text from a long-time person I know. The gist of his text was that he wanted me to know he found his way back to Jesus. His life had been a wreck when someone reached out to him years ago and pointed him to Jesus. Along the way though, he soured on that commitment. Said he was a Deist at one point, then basically nothing. Along the way, choices were made that devastated others, ruined relationships, and led him further and further away. But deaths of friends began to wake him up; a son’s commitment to Jesus; a contact from that old friend who initially reached out to him; and the work of the Holy Spirit, drew him back into the loving arms of the Savior who never stopped loving and wooing him.
I was reminded of the thief on the cross who used his exposure to Jesus and his final moments alive to ask Jesus to remember him. I told this person in a return text how happy this makes my heart and how he was never out of God’s hand or eye and this proves no one is ever too far gone to come home. I also told him he answered a prayer of mine that he didn’t even know about.
No one is ever too far gone. If you know someone you have been praying for for years, don’t give up. Until they breathe their last breath, they can come home to the Savior’s arms. He can take the most crusty, sin-hardened heart and melt it and make it His.
The proof was in a text this past weekend.
{A prayer request: My daughter’s boy friend is having tests done today for possible pancreatic cancer and lesions on his liver. May I ask you to pray for them both and for whatever the results might be? (He is not the subject of this post) Thanks}

Oh, Bill, thank you so much for sharing this joyful news! It is so encouraging! We all need to hear these stories to keep our hopes up no matter how many years go by!
Praying for your daughter’s friend…
This is the kind of news I like to share Pam. And thanks for your prayers.
Praying for your daughter and her boyfriend, Bill, and for the friend who has found his way back home to the Lord. Yes, God can take any one of us and melt our hearts of stone.
Blessings!
Thank you on both counts Martha.
Bill, I love the story of a someone you had been praying for, for a really long time came back to Christ. The hope we have as believers that no one is ever to far gone to be saved until their last breath. I too have people I have been praying for, for a really long time and sometimes it seems like the prays are not being answered. I do not ever want to give up hope, because I know I serve a loving, sovereign, merciful God, and His timing and His will can always come through. I rely on the promises of God, and in His words, so I have no reason to doubt my faith.
Never give up hope Gail. My story is proof positive.
Bill, will pray for your friend, pancratia cancer is tough, pray its not there is it has to be.
My Dad was a thief on the cross, getting saved the night before he died. Of course we did not know he was going to die,we thought we would be bringing him back home with us in a few days. But, thief on the cross he was. I love listening to Allister Begg sermon about the thief on the cross. Knowing my dad would be in heaven helped me to have a softer heart for those addicted to anything. Dad did not one thing for Christ, gave no money to help anyone, did not understand any of the deep things of God. What he did understand was he was a sinner in need of a Savior and my dear husband got to be the one to introduce him to Christ. God is crazy good, all the time. Blessings
Thanks for the prayers Betty. Great story about your dad. Isn’t God’s grace amazing? Appreciate your prayers for Mike. No results yet.
