October 7

Written by Bill Grandi on October 7th, 2026

It’s been awhile, but I determined not to write something just for the sake of writing something. Today I have so much to say from my reading, I don’t know where to start (or stop). But here you go:

Have you ever slowly read Psalm 105? It’s like reading a history lesson of the Israelites from beginning with Abraham and God’s covenant with him, to the Israelites in Egypt, to them in the wilderness. Go ahead. Read it slowly. 🙂

While you are at it, read Psalm 106. It’s like reading Part 1 & Part 2. Or maybe you prefer a sequel.

Ellen Vaughn has written a new book What Jesus Started. I started reading it last night and didn’t want to put it down but my eyelids and the time said otherwise. So far it is an exceptional read. Here are 2 thoughts you can ponder:

Every follower of Jesus Christ has a unique identity that flows from God. That’s because He has made each of us before we were formed in utero {my note: see Psalm 139:12-16}, and loves us with a love that will never let us go.  (p.25)

I had a devotion for the local New Beginnings Pregnancy Resource Center last night. I wish I had had that quote since I used Psalm 139 as my devotion.

She also wrote:

Being a Christian involves this crazy voluntary exchange: my will for His. My truth for His. My comfort for His cross. My preference for His power. (p.25)

Those are just some thoughts roaming around the space called my brain this morning. What say you?

  1. I will make a point of reading both of those Psalms when I do my Bible reading today, Bill. Thanks for sharing why we should take a closer look at them. That book you’re reading sounds fantastic, too.
    Blessings!

I think its easy at times to look at the Israelites and ask the question how could they do that, or why did they do that. To pick on everything they did and the way they did it. Then I look at my own life, and I ask the same questions. In my own life, do I glorify God all the time in ways that always honor Him, I wish I could say absolutely I do, but sadly it is not true. I always want to put God first, I want to do His will not my own, but to often I have to cry back out to God, ask for forgiveness an ask God to realign my heart and mind. I am thankful our loving God, picks me back up and keeps transforming me, and keeping His promise to never leave me.
